Reoccurring themes

Image
Things I learned throughout my research are plot lines like the rise and fall of power like in The Godfather. This was implemented into our opening scene when Joe Zaccardo (Me) wants to over throw his boss. This could be setting up the Joe's rise then him losing all of his power. Another common theme is when the group splits to loyalty vs betrayal which we also explore as Beppe is loyal to Tony the boss. Joe and Romano want to betray Tony. Loyalty vs Betrayal and the rise and fall of power occurs in all time great movies like The Godfather and Casino.  Then we used dimly light places like the bridge or the car to make the viewer feel unsafe, on edge, and scared.

Editing process

What we learned through editing was that editing was easier than expected. The either camera auto adjusted or Ethan tweaked the camera settings so we didn't need to color grade or adjust the exposure of any scenes. Sound was also simple because the camera we used had a boom microphone and the microphone told us if the sound was too quiet so we would reshoot scene. Some scenes were a bit loud so we lower the volume for a few clips. We also added music over the opening to grab the attention of the viewer when dialogue is not happening. Then for all the cuts we only used standard cuts because the pace of the opening was very slow and using different cuts does not fit the genre. For the credits we used a black background and added text over it. On the text we used a slow fade effect to add to the slow opening. Most shots are long duration unless they are over the shoulder shots. We also adjusted the exposure throughout because some scenes were extremely bright or the street lights wer...

Movie poster

Image
For this poster I learned to take a snapshot of my favorate frame then I add text overlay on top of this picture. Then I took 3 more snap shots one of Joey, Scotty, and me. Then for each of the 3 shots I cut out the background and overlayed each shot on top of the original photo. I also decreased the opacity for each of the cut outs because the main focus should the original snapshot and not the cutouts on the bottom.

Reflection

Image
Reflection  Through this post I will be going over the main scenes and what we learned throughout. The 1st scene: In this scene we would learn that acting is very hard is a group setting. Our opening scene was establishing the interior of our pizza restaurant. It was a dolly shot that went from the front to the back of the restaurant. Filming the scene using a gimbal was easy for Ethan but having 4 friends in on shot at once lead to many retakes. Every time one person would end up laughing. Eventually we go a useable take. The over shoulder shots (Inside):  The over shoulder shots were not a standard over the shoulder. It was more of an eye line match/ POV shot. We learned that filming against a wall showed us that the character against the wall was not able to be in the shot without taking up most of the shot. So we opted to just move the character being spoken to and film directly at the character speaking. Tracking shots: For our tracking shots we learned that we need...
